I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart whether it was lemonade stands, snow shoveling, or lawn mowing. By the time I graduated from St. Johns High School, my summer plan was to wash as many houses as possible. Fast forward five years, I’ve graduated from Cal Poly SLO and run this business full-time. Here is the story of how I built SSPW Services, formally known as Seamus Selmi Pressure Washing.
It started in 2019 with 100 black and white flyers printed from my home computer. As calls started coming in, I recruited some fellow wrestlers from BCC and St. Johns. Our goal was to provide exceptional customer service through integrity and determination. By the end of our first summer, we distributed 28,000 flyers and completed 138 jobs.
In 2020, the pandemic hit and we were sent home early from school. We began expanding our services to landscaping, painting, and local moving. I hired my first manager Joe Koenigs who quickly proved his capability, dedication, and companionship.
Over the next two years, we took strides to become more professional. We took on commercial jobs, purchased improved equipment, and provided better training to our crew members. At our peak, we were managing a crew of 12 guys.
As time went on, we decided to downsize our business in order to preserve our core business values. Expanding into new service industries and taking on jobs outside of our typical scope of work caused a decrease in the quality of service we were providing.
In 2023, we went back to our original model of only providing exterior cleaning services. We are committed to providing convenient, affordable and trustworthy soft washing and power washing services to the greater Bethesda - Chevy Chase area. Although we work with primarily residential clients, we do a handful of commercial jobs each season and are always looking for new opportunities!
I believe that my business and how we treat our customers is important to our community. We do it right – professionally, respectfully, and tenaciously. Because that's the way we were raised, and we couldn’t imagine being paid for less than the best.
Proudly,
Seamus Selmi
